The Selkirk Rex

By March 5, 2013Feline

This gorgeous cat is most recognizable by it’s plush, curly coat which can be any color or combination of colors. The Selkirk Rex is distinct from all Rex breeds due to their normal length fur and the lack of hairless patches commonly developed by most Rex (behind the ears, on the abdomen, top of the head and down the neck area). This breed is the curliest of all cats and has an extremely dense coat. They are considered a heavy shedder, making them unsuitable for allergy sufferers. This breed is not ideal for households where they will be alone for long periods of time as they love companionship and are very social. The Selkirk is known to have the laid-back, reserved qualities of the British Shorthair, the cuddly nature of the Persian, and the playfulness of the Exotic Shorthair.
